Game of Thrones Glass Cutting Board DIY

Want to make yourself a Game of Thrones Cutting board? It’s super easy and a perfect addition to any geeky household.

Game of Thrones Cutting Board DIY

Everywhere I look I see people decorating their boring, mundane items with vinyl decals to spruce them up, personalize them and give them some much needed life. For me, there just isn’t enough geeky, movie or gamer related goodness in the world. That includes my kitchen, which is as cookie cutter as they get right now.

Time to change that!

Sooooo, I decided to make a Game of Thrones cutting board, because who doesn't love GoT, right? And while I was at it I figured I could show you how to make one for yourself!

Here's what you'll need:

Material List
  • Glass cutting board (available at Target for $7.99)
  • Vinyl Decal
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Squeegee

If you have access to a plotter/cutter (such as the Cricut or Silhouette, or a professional one for heavy duty projects such as the one we have) you can totally DIY the decal for this project. You can also search the internet for a vinyl decal in the size you need, OR you can grab one from our Etsy shop, which offers a variety geeky decals, at nrdrg.com!

If you’re placing the decal on the underside of a cutting board or behind a glass cabinet door for example, be sure to purchase the reverse option so that the design can be viewed correctly from the opposite side.

Using Windex or other glass cleaner, wipe down the back of the cutting board so the decal adheres properly to the glass.

Find the center of your decal with a ruler, or if you're feeling adventurous eyeball that shit. Once you have it exactly where you like, use masking tape to hold it in place by taping down the top edge of the decal to the cutting board.

At this point you should be able to lift the decal as if on a hinge. Now this is where the fun part begins!

Lift one of the corners closest to the masking tape...

and slowly peel it back to expose the vinyl.

Use a squeegee or credit card to slowly smooth the decal on to the glass surface.

Be sure there is perfect contact between the decal and the glass.

Slowly peel back the transfer tape to expose your decal. If a piece of vinyl remains stuck to the transfer tape simply lower the transfer tape, go over it with your squeegee or credit card again to insure it is secure and peel the tape back again. Repeat as necessary.

Flip your glass cutting board over and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Grab some crackers, cheese and wine, and go binge on the last season of Game of Thrones!

Quick note: Most adhesive vinyls are made to last a long time, however keep your placement in mind, as some applications will have a longer shelf life than others. For example, a decal on a cutting board, because it has to be washed, will last less than one placed on the fridge door. Putting your cutting board in the dishwasher day after day, will also shorten that life span.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial and if you have any questions about our vinyl decals and their application, please feel free to contact me. I'm always happy to help.

Swamps of Despair

This week I have new tile set out called Swamps of Despair. It's a companion to my previous set called Valley of the Lost. If neither of those suit your needs you can always check out my other tile sets in the marketplace.

Same as last week, I have prepared a map section that corresponds with the new tile set so you can see in more detail what the pack has to offer. So here it is, a dilapidated bridge over a treacherous and swampy area.

In other news, Diablo 3 is coming out with the Necromancer pack on June 27th and I am totally down to play this new class!

Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I'll be playing this one on the computer and if you want to join me, feel free to add me on battlenet: Rhyannon#1689

Look me up and let's play :D

Happy gaming!

Murloc Roundup

With Squirky and the new World of Warcraft plush I've been on a murloc kick. First, I had to go get my own Squirky battle pet and here's all you have to do:

Head out to Seabreak Isle located off the West cost of Azsuna.

It's a small island with shipwrecks and elite murlocs a plenty! There are tons of Squirky's to go around, so I would recommend heading out there with friends, or a group, to make quick work of the elites, also giving you more time to capture 3 if you so desire it.

Kill those elites and get your pet battle on! I recommend using a Terrible Turnip, or any other pet with Weakening Blow. Starting out with Sunlight makes the battle go faster. Bring along 2 extra pets with critter damage and you should be good to kill it's companions and take your baby murloc home.

Now that we've got our new pet, I couldn't help but round up some adorable, and sometimes down right scary, looking drawings of our favorite little grumblers. Check out these artists and their talented fan-art.

Its been too long...

It's been too long since I've posted. Way too long! So much has happened while I've been missing in action I'm not even sure where to start...

We moved back to good old Miami cause Izzy partnered up with some friends to open a printing company. They do custom sublimation, screen printing, transfers and vinyl with a focus on sports and school uniforms. I've been helping them out and it's definitely a lot of fun, but man it has been keeping me really, REALLY busy.

On the upside, the business is growing fast and I am taking full advantage of having access to all this awesome equipment to the point where I started designing and selling shirts, mousepads, metal prints and anything else I can get my hands on that I know my geeky, gaming and movie loving followers would enjoy! Similar to this mousepad I did of my lovely resto shaman, Rhyannon.

World of Warcraft character custom mousepad.
If you want to see more of what I have to offer you can find it in my Etsy shop at NRDRG (nrdrg.com).

The plan is to continue growing NRDRG and, now that they've hired someone at the shop, I may actually have some free time to spend it catching up on games I've missed and those that I'm dying to get back to playing, like WoW and Destiny, YAY!

I'm also very much looking forward to this weekend, we are going to see Rogue One! Already got my tickets and I'm super psyched :D Follow on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook if you want to see pics and my reviews after the movie!

Just in time for WoD - Mythic Garrosh kill

Last night we finished clearing Mythic SoO with our first Mythic Garrosh kill! Woot!

We had a few attempts on him last week consistently getting to this last phase, but with the adjustments to 20 mans we weren't able to get him. This week we had a handful of tries and got him down.

The loot was sexy, I got the Horned Mace of the Old Ones. He also dropped 2 mounts!

And guess who had a sexy roll! Yours truly!

SOOOOO I ended up with one of the mounts and not even two seconds later I lost it to Izzy (a self proclaimed mount whore) because I'm a retard and give him everything he wants in-game.

So he's enjoying riding around in it while I sit here with fingers crossed that next week he can win one! Anyway, here is a link to the Mythic Garrosh Kill video if you guys want to check it out!

Patch 6.0.2 - First Impressions

Patch is finally here and as usual everyone has mixed emotions. Trade is bustling with people trying to figure out where things are, others complaining about their missing spells, and most secretly enjoying the excitement that comes with a new patch and expansion.

First thing I noticed logging on was Rhyannon. I could see the difference in the character model right off the bat and she looks great!

After logging on you get a prompt about the new changes and a way to start the quest line for the invasion in Blasted Lands.

After I accepted my quest I was sad to see all the gaps in my bars :(

As a shaman healer though, I have to say it is kinda nice to have space for things other than totems everywhere!

Then I went off to check my bank and check out the Toy Box.

SPACE!!! Space to fill with more junk! It's really nice to have that trade goods tab too.

The new map with quest is nice and simple to use. I wish it wasn't as large, but I'll get used to it.

And you can't hate on the transparency when you are on the move!

Quick tip in case you are going crazy looking for this as I was. To remove the outlines go to your interface> display> and at the bottom you will see options for the outline. I made mine go bye bye.

Then I grabbed Rah and put him on follow and I did the invasion story line.

And got us a title:

And a cute little pet, which can be caged, by the way, for some extra gold when the expansion comes out.

When not bugging out I got a chance to do UBRS, which gives you a little taste of what's to come.

I noticed the healing changes but it was nothing too overwhelming that I couldn't handle. Most of my gear lost it's spirit and yet I have no mana regen problems what-so-ever. I'm currently at 587 spirit, with 2689 mana regen with a 565 ilvl. I went from having 50% mastery to 103% O.o once reforge was removed. MUST GET CRIT/HASTE GEAR ASAP! Other than the slower cast timese due to my loss of haste shaman healing remains much the same as before. I'm scared to go on my other characters though lol because I know they have not been as fortunate as Rhy.

You also get a chance to grab some 550 ilvl blues in UBRS, which can be disenchanted into the new enchanting mats and are selling for a butt load on the AH.

And last, but certainly not least, the new Horde mount! It's AWESOME! And I love the way my shaman looks riding it!

Over all not a bad patch day, but the day isn't over yet. Raid tonight should be fun and interesting and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no resets during that time.

How has patch day been treating you guys? What do you love/hate? Let me know!
